Frequently Asked Questions About Our Salon Policies

  • What vaccination records are required for grooming or daycare appointments?

For all grooming and daycare visits, dogs must have up-to-date rabies and DHPP vaccinations. Bordetella is highly recommended for daycare participants. Please bring proof of vaccinations to your first appointment.

  • What is your late arrival and cancellation policy for grooming appointments?

To keep our one-on-one schedule running smoothly, we allow a 15-minute grace period for late arrivals. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice incur a $15 fee. No-shows are subject to a 50% charge.

  • Are there any breed or service restrictions at Comb & Collar?

We do not accept new cat clients at this time. For dogs, we work with all breeds, including large and Oodle mixes. Aggressive or dangerous pets may be declined for safety. Pregnant or in-heat dogs cannot be accepted.

  • Can I stay with my pet during their grooming session?

For safety, owners are not permitted to remain during grooming. This reduces stress for your pet and ensures our team can work safely with sharp tools. We call as soon as your pet is ready for pickup.

  • How does the daycare 'Meet & Greet' assessment work and is there a waitlist?

All dogs must complete a complimentary 30 to 40 minute assessment before joining daycare at our West St. Paul location. This checks for safe social behaviour. Admission is based on temperament, and there may be a waitlist during busy periods.

  • How do you handle pets with special needs, seniors, or medical conditions?

We offer specialized handling for seniors and dogs with medical or mobility issues. Comfort always comes first, and we adjust services as needed. Please inform us of health concerns when booking.

  • What happens if my pet is severely matted or has ticks?

For severe matting, a humane shave-down may be required to prevent pain or skin injury. If ticks are found, a cleaning fee applies per tick (up to 15). We always prioritize your pet’s comfort and safety.

  • Are there special entry or safety procedures for anxious or reactive dogs?

At our Henderson Hwy location, we offer a back door entrance for nervous or traffic-reactive pets. Please request this option when booking, so your dog can arrive calmly and avoid noisy areas.

  • Do you accept walk-in appointments for grooming or nail trims?

We recommend booking in advance as we do not guarantee walk-in availability. Please call ahead for same-day options.

  • Can I book grooming for multiple dogs from the same family at once?

Yes, you can schedule group bookings for dogs from the same household. Let us know the details when booking to arrange timing.

  • What payment methods do you accept at each location?

We accept major credit cards, Interac, and cash at both our Winnipeg and West St. Paul salons.

  • Is daycare available at both locations?

Daycare is only offered at our Kapelus Dr (West St. Paul) location. The Henderson Hwy salon is for grooming services only.

  • What products do you use for bathing and coat care?

We select high-quality, professional-grade shampoos and conditioners based on your pet’s needs. Specific brand names are not listed.
